The Silence Underneath

Before any sound there is silence, and after any sound there is silence. During the sound there is still a silence under the sound. In a sense silence is eternal.

If your mind is wandering a lot when you are meditating try this. Focus on the silence before or after the thought. Don’t focus on the thought itself. Just let it do its thing without any resistance from you. Don’t be frustrated or angry with it just let the thoughts flow, and try to focus on the silence under the sound. Use the silence before or after to help you get started and follow the silence into the sound or thoughts. Then try to focus on the silence underneath the sounds, or thoughts. While doing this be aware or your breath. Don’t focus on it, just be aware of it. Try practicing this for awhile to see if it will help focus more during meditation and not be so distracted by all those thoughts running around in your head.
May the light of truth illuminate your path, and may you be blessed with awareness and understanding!
